On April 5, 2025, a group of enthusiastic students from STS. William and Helen Secondary and Vocational School, located in Kibeedi, Nyamarunda Town Council, Kibaale District, embarked on an exciting educational journey to Buseesa Demonstration Farm. The students, accompanied by their dedicated Agriculture Teacher, Entrepreneurship Teacher, and the Dean of Studies, immersed themselves in a hands-on learning experience that will undoubtedly shape their academic and professional futures.

During their visit, the students explored various projects at the farm, including poultry, piggery, dairy cattle, rabbit rearing, fish farming, banana plantation, goat rearing, urban farming, and biogas production. The practical lessons provided by the farm’s experts gave the students a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world applications.
In his welcoming remarks, Dr. Lubega Richard, Director of Buseesa Demonstration Farm, emphasized the farm’s mission of driving socioeconomic transformation and improving academic standards in schools and higher education institutions. He encouraged the students to share their experiences with their parents, inviting them to visit the farm and learn how to start projects that can propel them into the money economy.

This educational excursion is designed to equip the students with the skills and confidence needed to excel in their national exams. Moreover, it aligns with the new Ugandan curriculum, which emphasizes practical skills and entrepreneurship. By exposing students to diverse agricultural practices and innovative farming techniques, Buseesa Demonstration Farm is playing a vital role in shaping the next generation of agricultural leaders and entrepreneurs.
The students and teachers alike expressed their gratitude to the Buseesa Demonstration Farm team for providing this invaluable learning experience. As the students return to their classrooms, they will undoubtedly carry with them a newfound appreciation for the importance of practical skills and a deeper understanding of the agricultural sector.
We commend STS. William and Helen Secondary and Vocational School for their commitment to providing their students with holistic education and look forward to seeing the impact of this visit on their academic and professional journeys.
