On Saturday, 20th September 2025, His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the President of the Republic of Uganda, visited Buseesa Demonstration Farm as part of the Phase II rollout of the Presidential 4-Acre Model Campaign in Bunyoro region.

During his visit, President Museveni officially launched the farm as the Buseesa 4-Acre Model Farm by laying a foundation stone. He toured key sections of the farm, including the piggery, poultry units, dairy cattle, rabbitry, sack-mountain gardens, and biogas system.

The president also inspected several farm products such as eggs, animal and poultry feeds (including broken maize and silage), as well as the machinery used for feed production.

In a briefing during the tour, Dr. Lubega Richard, Director of Buseesa Demonstration Farm, informed the President that the farm began in 2014 and was upgraded to a 4-acre model farm in 2021 after being inspired by the President’s advocacy for the model. Since then, the farm has become a beacon of modern agriculture, empowering farmers, youth, and the community with practical skills, quality animal breeds, and exposure to sustainable farming practices.

Dr. Lubega also highlighted that the farm hosts internship students from various institutions, including: Mountains of the Moon University, African Rural University, Metropolitan International University, Birembo War Memorial Technical Institute, Buhimba Agricultural Institute, Mubende Polytechnic, among others.

Impressed by the progress and impact of the farm, President Museveni commended Dr. Lubega and his team for their role in tackling youth unemployment and skilling the next generation of farmers. He remarked:

“I am impressed by what this man is doing at his farm. I can see he has one cow, so I am going to give him Ugx 12 million shillings to buy two more cows.”

Buseesa Demonstration Farm currently employs over 40 people, with deliberate efforts to ensure inclusive employment. The workforce includes youth, women, and persons with disabilities, who are actively engaged in various agricultural and value-addition projects. This approach not only promotes economic empowerment but also fosters social inclusion and community transformation.

The President was accompanied by several high-ranking government officials, including: Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, Prime Minister of Uganda, Hon. Matia Kasaija, Minister of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development, Hon. Fred Byamukama, State Minister for Transport, and other senior government leaders and local officials.

The farm is located at Buseesa Trading Centre (Kasalaba), Matale Sub-County, Kibaale District, in Mid-Western Uganda.
