At Busesa Community Development Organization, we are growing native trees that have been cultivated from seeds collected from our own backyards.  These trees are well adapted to their environment, provide many benefits to the local ecosystem, and require little care after they become established. But that is just the very beginning.

Indigenous trees may be planted without any soil preparation and left to fend for themselves – Wrong. Indigenous trees respond positively to the correct soil preparation and reward the initial investment with rapid and vigorous growth if treated well thereafter.

Some of the benefits for planting Indigenous trees over non-indigenous include the provision of food and shelter for local wildlife, Less need for fertilizer, and water, they are non-invasive,

Indigenous tree species are not only beneficial to our local ecosystem but planting trees in the environment to which they have adapted means they will have a better chance at a long and healthy life.
