With efforts to prevent pasture scarcity at the farm, Busesa Demo Farm has decided to prepare hey.
This happened on 07th December, 2023 at the farm headquarters, in Busesa Village (Kasaraba) in Kibaale district.
it has been considered the best option to deal with pasture scarcity on the farm asserting that it will provide the farm with enough feeds for the animals.
Dickson a farm manager and also a veterinary Doctor explained that they have done all it takes to see that they really prepare a quality hay for the animals.
He explained the process whereby he said that it starts with cutting pasture and dry It under the shade to ensure partial drying/wither, to make it lose some water content.

He continued to explain that by the time it is partially dried it is packed in boxes to form hay bales.
According to Dickson hay bales are stored in a hay ban until need arises, most likely during the dry seasons when pastures are scarce, to deal with pasture scarcity issues on the farm.
“Pasture grass is cut and dried partially under the shade, after it is packed in the hay boxes to form hay bales which are stored in a hay ban to feed the animals mostly during dry seasons”
