Buseesa medical Centre III has conducted static/out reaches for immunization to the community around buseesa medical Centre III and this exercise is a routine exercise for every Wednesday at 8:00am to 04:30 in different areas of the community for both children between 12 and 59 month and also those children with 5-14 years.

Before the exercise, Namirimu Josephine the in charge of this exercise encouraged the parents to make sure that all children have access to routine immunizations. She said that urgent action is needed to stop the dangerous trend of routine immunizations backsliding and the reemergence of vaccine preventable diseases. She also encouraged parents to carry out combat food instability, making sure every child has access to good nutrition. Under this she also said that a nutritious diet is fundamental to a child’s survival and development.

She again taught parents the reason for carrying out this exercise that this vaccines save lives. That Measles vaccines alone are estimated to have prevented over 21 million deaths and she also said that vaccines will help protect the child against diseases that can cause serious harm or death, especially in people with developing immune systems like infants and also it’s important to vaccinate the child. If not, highly contagious diseases such as measles, diphtheria and polio, which were once wiped out in many countries, will come back. A parent also asked the in charge that can my baby handle all of these vaccines. The in charge replied yes. Many parents worry that multiple vaccines will overload their child’s immune system. But children are exposed to hundreds of germs every day. In fact, a common cold or sore throat will put a greater burden on your child’s immune system than vaccines. In in charge’s conclusion she said that one of the best ways the parents can protect their children is to follow the recommended vaccine schedule in their community and also said that any time they delay a vaccine, they are increasing their child’s vulnerability to disease and she said that all vaccines are around and the exercise is still going on for polio, BCG, IPV, DPTHepbHib, PCV, Rota, Measles Rubella by Age and Dose.
