This activity took place on 14/08/2023 at Buseesa Community Development Organization(BCDO) farm where by Mr. Brian Muhonge the Farm Assistant Manager said that the local animal husbandry sector had marked a revolutionary boost in recent years bringing fortune to hundreds of people in the region.
He again said that this type of cow fattening everywhere in the region has been contributing a lot towards improving living and livelihood conditions of the grassroots population through enriching animal resources for the last couple of decades.
He also said that many of the urban families had been rearing and fattening bulls commercially and earning huge profits every year.
Mr. Brian Muhonge also again said that some of the poor and marginalized people including women have achieved tremendous successes in the sector and meanwhile, for the last couple of years, many villagers have been seen fattening their bulls using natural methods.
He also encouraged all the people around the community to practice cattle fattening since Cattle fattening business is a very profitable business and many people are making money all over the world by doing cattle livestock farming business and Cattle beef fattening involves the feeding of beef cattle with a protein balanced, high-energy diet for a period of 90 days under confinement to increase live weights and improve degree of finish and thus obtain better grades at the abattoir.
On the side of cattle he continued saying that Beef fattening enables the cattle to express fully their genetic potential for growth. To build a successful, sustainable cattle fattening business, and he said that people they require sufficient knowledge of how to efficiently do cattle pen fattening i.e. cattle fattening techniques, good management skills, and a good business plan.
Under this, he continued by saying that Cattle fattening farming is a lucrative business, but there are some essential things the farmer need to do before you venture into the livestock farming business
In Mr. Brian’s conclusion therefore, he encouraged farmers that If they do not have a lot of capital, they can always start small and grow their business overtime and they should also need to carry out market research (Who are you going to sell the cattle or beef to? At what price?) and write a beef cattle farming business plan before they venture into the business.
