BCDO has increased the capacity of the fishing project from 3 to 6 fish ponds at BCDO demonstraton farm. BCDO has also sensitized and trained over 60 fish farmers and out of those, 48 farmers have set up fish ponds and are now involved in fish farming as a business.

To improve the nutrition of community members, BCDO has given an opportunity to local people to access fish at relatively low prices compared to the market price. The little money collected by BCDO is used to expand the project and also buy feeds for the fish.

Most fish farmers do not produce sufficient quality and quantities of fish frequently enough throughout the year to sustain a steady market for themselves as individuals. BCDO is addressing this through setting up fish farmer groups which work together to ensure that there is continuous harvest of fish throughout the year.
