The Busesa Community Development Organization (BCDO), in partnership with the Local Government and Joint Medical Store (JMS), is implementing a community-based malaria testing, treatment, mosquito net distribution, and health education campaign across Kibaale District, with a special focus on hard-to-reach communities and areas with a high malaria burden.
Recently, the program was conducted in Kakenzi Parish, Kyebando Sub-county, where over 500 community members were tested for malaria. More than 200 people tested positive and received immediate treatment according to national treatment guidelines. Similar outreach activities have also been conducted in Itomero, Nyamarwa Sub-county, where many positive malaria cases were identified. However, Kyebando Sub-county is currently recording the highest malaria positivity rate, which calls for urgent public health intervention.

BCDO therefore calls upon the Ministry of Health to strengthen malaria control interventions in Kyebando and other high-burden communities through enhanced surveillance, increased supply of malaria commodities, intensified vector control, and expanded community awareness campaigns.
Our organization remains committed to reaching every community in Kibaale District with life-saving malaria services. Through our dedicated outreach teams, we shall continue testing, treating confirmed malaria cases, distributing insecticide-treated mosquito nets, and providing comprehensive health education to reduce malaria-related illness and deaths.

To sustain and expand this important initiative, BCDO appeals to development partners, NGOs, foundations, corporate organizations, and well-wishers to support this program with:
Malaria Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) kits
Antimalarial medicines
Long-lasting insecticide-treated mosquito nets
Outreach tents and chairs
Transport support for field teams
Financial support for health workers and community outreach activities
Fuel and logistics
Radio airtime for community awareness campaigns
Community health education materials
In addition to malaria services, BCDO operates Buseesa Medical Centre III, where the organization provides free and affordable essential health services, including:
Free malaria testing and treatment
Antenatal care services
Routine childhood immunization
Cervical cancer screening
Community health education
Diagnosis and treatment of common illnesses
BCDO also promotes preventive health education through weekly radio programs on Karuguuza Development Radio and Kakumiro Community Radio, reaching thousands of listeners with information on malaria prevention, maternal and child health, sanitation, nutrition, and disease prevention.
Together, we can significantly reduce the burden of malaria and improve the health and well-being of communities in Kibaale District. BCDO welcomes partnerships with government agencies, NGOs, development partners, foundations, faith-based organizations, and private sector institutions committed to strengthening community health services.
