BCDO established a fish farming project in Kajuma village Kaisekenkere parish-Matale sub county. The project was funded by the Government of Uganda through the Ministry of Agricultures, Aninal Industry and Fisheries. BCDO stocked 4000 fingerlings and at one year and a half sold 3970 in three phases.
According to the Executive Director for BCDO Mr. Lubega Richard, BCDO got UGX 32 millions from fish harvest. In addition, BCDO has so far trained 78 fish farmers within Kibaale, Kagadi and Kakumiro.
He called upon the public to come and buy fresh tilapia and catfish now available at the demonstration farm at UGZ 10,000 per kilogram of fish.
Richard is the chairman Kibaale District Fish Farmers Association and has a passion for fish farming. He however says that if well supported, his organization can reach out to more fish farmers in the region especially equipping them with technical skills and supplying fingerlings to farmers. This promotes fisheries business in the region.
